Our story
Baal has lived with us for more than six years. We thought we knew his nights: he runs around the house.
Then he wore the tracker during our testing. One night it recorded three trips outside the boundary around the house — at 21:40, 00:53 and 06:05, each up to about 90 metres from home. We had no idea.
MX1 is built for nights like that — the ones you would never find out about — so you can know your dog a little better.

How it helps
Draw a boundary around home, a paddock or a yard. If they go outside it, your phone tells you — and tells you again if they’re still out.
Their location on a map, and where they’ve been — including the trips you never knew about.
If it runs flat, switches off or loses coverage, you’ll know.
Unlike a Bluetooth tag, it doesn’t wait for a stranger’s phone to walk past. It has its own GPS and SIM, and reports on its own wherever there’s mobile coverage.

We don’t make the hardware. We choose it, and we test it here in New Zealand.

No. It carries its own SIM and reports over the mobile network, so it works where there is mobile coverage.
Open the app to see where your dog is now and the route it has taken since it left. You can send its location to a neighbour or family member who is closer. MX1 reports over the mobile network, so it needs coverage and a charged battery. If it goes quiet, the app tells you.
Yes. The SIM is fitted before the device ships. You do not need to buy or insert one.
Yes. It sits on a collar strap, the same way it does for a dog, and reports wherever your paddocks have mobile coverage. We’re looking for goat and sheep owners to test it with — write to us.
No. MX1 is not for tracking people. In New Zealand, tracking a person can be a criminal offence.
